Senior Concept Artist

MOOD is looking for a talented, experienced and versatile concept artist. An artist who thrives to understand and meet the client’s needs, and who works to deliver the highest quality every time.

The candidate we’re looking for, is able to take a brief, analyse the task and provide a structured overview of the work process. Furthermore, able to work with a quickly turnaround on idea generation and a sharp eye for details when polishing final pieces.

At MOOD we put pride into being a versatile studio, and deliver equally high quality within different styles. We’re therefore looking for an Artist who works comfortably within a diverse range of styles, and throughout the work process, from first sketches through colour roughs, rendering and final polish.

You will be a part of a team of professional, passionate and dedicated concept artists that live and breath to produce outstanding art for our clients within the movie, game and toy industries.

Enthusiasm and good communication skills is important, and we’re looking for a team player who is equally comfortable with both responsibility and teamwork. As a team player you know how to focus on the goal and be an active part in getting there.

Required experience

  • Experience in environment design in various styles
  • Experience in character design of a broad range of creatures and styles
  • Experience in mechanical design and knowledge of industrial design principals and their application to fictional vehicles, machines, weapons etc
  • Experience in creating concept art (characters and environments) and ability to hit different quality benchmarks within the given timeframe
  • Experience in telling a story in an image
  • Experience in creating illustrations for key visuals, posters, packaging and other marketing art
  • Strong architectural knowledge and understanding
  • Strong understanding of composition, lightning and perspective
  • Strong communication skills in writing and verbal, constructive in feedback and clear in communication with clients and team
  • Experience in leading a team of artists, giving and receiving feedback, being responsible for handling a larger longterm task/project

Required skills

  • Master of Photoshop, and interested in learning new tools
  • Interest in working as an all-round Concept Artist with equal weight on creating characters, environments and complex key visuals
  • Both expert in photo-bashing and traditional illustration
  • Excellent design and compositional skills
  • Excellent knowledge of art and design history
  • Experience with 3-D software (Blender, Z-Brush, MODO, Maya etc)
  • Ability to produce and use 3D modeling as part of your design pipeline, and use Z-Brush to create models as base for creature and character design

Background

  • At least 4-5 years experience with producing professional concept art within the game or movie industries
  • Experience with outsourcing workflows and of dealing directly with clients, including Art Directors and Producers
  • A strong portfolio with a broad variety of styles and techniques

Personal Specification

Just as important you have to be a nice person to work with who have an urge to invent, create and lean more and is able to handle feedback/criticism professionally. In addition to having an excellent foundation of artistic ability, the role requires working as part of a team and so enthusiasm and good communication skills are needed. We are looking for a team player who wants to be part of our skilled, experienced and enthusiastic studio.

OFFICE ASSISTANT

MOOD is looking for an organized and positive Office Assistant who wants to grow with us. We’re on an exciting journey and are therefore looking for an Office Assistant who can help us improve and develop our workplace.

The day-to-day tasks include

  • Welcome guests.
  • Keep the office nice and clean, water the plants.
  • Keep the kitchen nice and clean, prepare for and clean up after lunch.
  • Collect and send in lunch orders.
  • Contact with our vendors, lunch catering and cleaning company.
  • Buy treats, snacks, gifts, office supplies, mail and package shipping.
  • Interior decoration, and furniture.
  • Organize Friday bar and social events together with our party committee.
  • Assist with social media posts and website updates.
  • Assist with production coordination.
  •  

We’re looking for a person who is organized and structured. You can make lists, prioritize, and keep track of tasks and time. You are a problem-solver, who is not afraid to learn new things and investigate new possibilities. And you have eye for what is needed around the office and take the initiative to make it happen. We are an office full of hard-working artists – sometimes we like to celebrate our successes, so we are looking for somebody who can help keep spirits high.

It’s an advantage if you speak both Danish and English and have experience from a similar position.

The position is estimated to 30 hours pr week, from 8.30 – 15, and we offer a workplace with a friendly and international atmosphere, social events, nice lunch catering and a beautiful office located in the center of Copenhagen.
